!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! “Given the importance of the segment (and the fierce competition), Genesis has one chance to make its impact felt. And we’re happy to say that for the most part, it’s succeeded. If Hyundai’s luxury arm can nail this whole image thing—and given the talent involved, there’s a good chance it will—the G70 will be instrumental in establishing Genesis as a luxury brand with a distinct identity.”
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! - HIGHS Well-executed design, solid construction, sporting dynamics, there’s a manual option. LOWS Tight rear seat, 2.0-liter engine short on character, automatic doesn’t shift as sharply as competitors’.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! - To those who hold brand prestige in high regard, it likely won’t, because nothing will be able to rip them away from the Audi rings, BMW roundel or Mercedes three-pointed star. But for those looking to break from the crowd and want a genuinely competitive alternative, the G70 — which goes on sale in August with prices starting around $35,000 — is certainly worth your consideration.
Alex On Autos who is my go to for car reviews:
“Genesis is serious about making competitive luxury vehicles and the 2019 G70 3.3T is proof of that. If combines the precision and expected reliability of the Lexus IS with the driving dynamics of a Jaguar XE, the thrust of a BMW 340i and tops it off with a large interior. It also shines a light on the upcoming rear wheel drive Genesis crossovers which will be more BMW than Lexus in driving character.”
The FP has the review out as well. It’s up there on my next car list despite being smaller than my other front runners it might win me over other more practical options. I am genuinely excited for this car and after testing the very promising !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I am looking forward even more to test driving a 3.3T Sport soon.

Given the importance of th e segment
which is to say “low, and declining?”

I think the compact luxury segment is pretty important still. A third of the 300K cars BMW sold in the US last year are 3 series versions. I have mostly bought, and will continue to buy cars in this segment. Granted I can only afford used/CPO but I hope new competition like this keeps it going for a while. This segment generally also has great leasing rates so I might even consider one this time around.

I’m a fan of Alex on Autos too...maybe not as flashy and full of personality as some other presenters, but so detailed and logical.
Kind of like Top Gear from when I was a kid, before it became a soap opera.

Solution : Genesis/Hyundai dealerships should offer a full badge-delete option. Then go to eB ay and get BMW, Audi or even Infiniti badges and slap them on this car.

If combines the precision and expected reliability of the Lexus IS
with the driving dynamics of a Jaguar XE, the thrust of a BMW 340i
“Reliability of the Lexus IS
” -The TT Lambda II debuted in 2016; really too young to be refereed to as reliable
“Driving dynamics of a Jaguar XE”-
That’s
really
high praise
“The thrust of a BMW 340i”-How? it has more power and torque than it.

“Cool car, what is it?”
“Oh it’s a
Genesis G70
Infiniti G35"
“They still make it”
“sureeeee”

Funny you mention that. This is exactly what I wanted the Infiniti Q50 to be instead of the hot mess it is now.

Digital steering needs to happen; I’m just convinced Infiniti fucked it up

I just don’t understand why they tried to debut the technology on their bread-and-butter sedan. They should’ve started with a model that doesn’t sell well, or even with a big SUV like the QX80 where the buyers won’t notice. Fucking with the steering feel of the sports sedan that’s been making all your money seems really stupid to me.

Maybe the digital steering couldn’t handle the weight of the larger SUVs... they couldve made it a more niche options perhaps, or maybe have the tech be easy to disable
